Benjy Fenwick

History: Benjamin Marcus Fenwick was born in Manchester, England to a working-class Muggle family. His father John works in one of Manchester's factories, while his mother Nicole deals with the family. Benjy has a brother two years his elder, Anthony, two youngers sisters, Nancy and Kate, twelve and thirteen respectively, and a younger brother, Edward, the baby of the family at nine.

The Fenwicks had a bit of trouble making ends meet, but growing up Benjy was relatively free from want. His toys and clothes were mostly hand-me-downs from Anthony, but that suited him all right. He was always a happy child, getting on well with all of his siblings and making friends easily with neighborhood kids.

Coming home from playing one day, Benjy and Anthony found an owl perched on the mailbox with a letter in its beak, which turned out to be addressed to Benjy. It seemed Benjy was a wizard and had been invited to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This lead to Nicole's embarrassed admission that her great aunt Mabel was a witch and to Benjy being carted off to her to learn a bit about the magical world before being thrown head first into it. Despite the initial shock, the boy took it fairly in stride, as did his mother and even his siblings, beyond making fun of him for being like creepy old Great Aunt Mabel. His father was a bit more disturbed by the realization, and has been a bit more distant to Benjy ever since; however, it remains clear that John loves his son. The Fenwicks scraped up Muggle funds for school supplies and, supplimented by some galleons from Mabel, the boy was seen onto the Hogwarts Express by his entire family with second-hand cauldron and books, and a brand new set of robes.

Benjy was sorted into Gryffindor and proceeded to make friends with just about everyone - Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, first year, seventh year, it made no matter. Only haughty pure-blood Slytherins rebuked his amiable approaches, but Benjy, even after learning what "mudblood" meant, wasn't bothered and treats them with the same exuberant goodwill as everyone else. Of only average intelligence, a dogged determination to do well leaves him with fairly good marks. None of his siblings have proved magical, but he remains close to them. His fourth year at Hogwarts sees Benjy as happy as ever.
